August 3, 2001, Newsletter Issue #28: Puppets and Puppet Shows

Tip of the Week

Puppets are fun to make. And you`ll be amazed at the uses you`ll find for puppets.

Entertain your friends, little siblings, scout or church group. Do volunteer work with them at nursing homes, childcare centers, or hospitals.

Take your puppets to school. They`re a good sculpture or 3-D project for art class. And, of course, they`ll be very welcome in drama class. They can reenact history, recite poems, enliven a debate, or put spirit into a reading.. Write a puppet play or script for language arts class. Got an oral report to give in science or English class? That`s right ... let your puppets do the talking.

How do you make homework fun? You got it ... practice, drill, and recite with puppets.

Find ideas and instructions in books at your local library or bookstore. Check online for many good websites on puppetry.
